Creating a chair of research for a young PremUp researcher

Increase the visibility and desirability of perinatal research by promoting teams ready to take over in unexplored areas of research.

Context

The PremUp Foundation of Scientific Cooperation, which concentrates on issues around pregnancy and prematurity, was founded at the request of the authorities. In so doing, the ministries of Research and of Health wished to encourage the emergence in France of advanced centres of research and care which would be recognised as among the best internationally. One of the clearly expressed objectives shared by the Foundation and the Ministry of Research was the commitment to improving the visibility and desirability of research into perinatality, as much for the scientific and medical communities as for the pharmaceutical industry and civil society. Attracting outstanding young post-doctoral researchers (both French and/or foreign) with the objective of further training, forming new teams and gaining a leadership in the field of perinatality, is a key part of PremUp strategy.

Objectives

Create a chair for a young post-doctoral candidate giving him/her all the necessary latitude to:

  • Conduct a significant project over 3 years on one of the most important research areas of the foundation while promoting, through his/her inclusion in the PremUp network, a comprehensive approach encompassing research from its initial stages to its clinical application.
  • Gradually create a new team made up of young foreign researchers, thus contributing specifically to the training of a scientific elite from emerging countries.

Added value of PremUp Foundation

The PremUp network, which enjoys international recognition, has the will and the capacity to include within its structures outstanding young researchers who will rapidly become independent, will work in collaboration with several teams and will be equipped to take over in areas of research which are still relatively unexplored. The scientific council of the Foundation, made up entirely of foreign researchers, is unquestionably an asset in the selection of the best candidates.
